The Eyes of GodI Samuel 16:7, “For the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.” What is more important, the outward appearance or the inward appearance? Hollywood tells us that what you look like on the outside is the most important thing in life. A person should look a certain way in order to be a success. Plastic surgery is available to anyone who wishes to change their appearance to meet the standard of Hollywood, and television advertisements portray the idea that you can look just like the Hollywood stars if you will buy their products. The world system is built on the outward appearance. However, is this stress accurate according to God, Who created all people in His image? The Bible is clear that the outward appearance is only secondary. What we are on the inside determines our lifestyle, our destination, our success, and our purpose in life. God tells us that the inward man is much more important than the outward man. What we are is more important than what we do, because our hearts determine our actions and destiny. A Godly heart produces Godly actions. God wants us to work on our inner man. We need to allow God to do His work in our hearts so that the true emphasis can be placed where it is needed. If we allow God to change us, we will be beautiful on the inside, where it really counts. God’s purpose in saving us is to change us into the image of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. May we focus on the inside where God is constantly looking. May we please God with a beautiful heart and spirit! |
