AnticipationAnticipation brings much excitement to a person’s life. A child looks forward to vacation time with his family, and he’s so excited about the trip that he cannot sleep. A bride has been looking forward to her wedding day for most of her life, and now she will marry the man she has chosen to be married to for the rest of her life. A student has spent a great deal of time preparing for his graduation. He has studied long hours and did a lot of work both inside and outside the classroom. Graduation time has arrived, and excitement fills the air.As Christians, we have much to look forward to in the future. The plan of God is that every Christian becomes just like the Lord Jesus Christ. The Heavenly Father leads, directs, and molds us into His image through the Word of God, which changes us as we apply its principles to our daily living. He also allows circumstances to teach us wisdom as we learn to see things from God’s perspective. The Holy Spirit aids in the growth process by convicting us of sin, giving us joy, and strengthening us through His continual presence. He even produces Christ-like characteristics in us. The Bible tells us something else that fills us with excitement. The Lord Jesus Christ will come again for His children to take them to be in Heaven with Him forever. Whether we are living or dead when He comes back, we are promised to have a new body, free from sickness, death, sorrow, and pain. We are promised that we will be in the presence of the Lord for the rest of eternity. The life in Heaven will be perfect. What an encouragement to the Christian who is living in this sin-cursed world! The word anticipation definitely describes the Christian walk. The
excitement about the future spills over into our present lives. We know, based
on the character of God, that if He is going to do great things for us later, He
will take care of us now and show us what a wonderful God He is. |
